The early morning streamer action on the Little Red River continues to be productive. Bill is from Starkville, MS, and we spent yesterday morning chunking streamers and bringing a number of nice fish to the boat. The fly of the morning was a yellow and olive Chuck’s Chunk cast tight to the banks and right on top of any nearby structure. Bill is a well traveled and very experienced fly fisher and he did a great job with accurate casts and putting really good action to the fly. Later in the morning we switched to a nymph rig and continued taking fish first on a #14 HL/Sowbug and then as the water dropped a bit we changed to size #16 Original Ebby.
As we move into the fall season the streamer bite should only get better so if you want to try it out just give us a call and book a trip with Empty Creel Fly Fishing Guides and Outfitter. I am pretty sure that Bill will be back soon and we hope to see you soon too.
