J.T. and his Grandfather

JUNE 01, 2012

We just spent a very special three days fly fishing with J.T., from Dallas, TX, and his Grandfather, Tommy, from Houston, Texas.  These two best friends take an annual fly fishing trip and we are so glad they booked this trip with Empty Creel Fly Fishing Guides and Outfitter.  The first day we went to Dry Run Creek, a tributary of the Norfork River, which is a special project of the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, where catch and release fly fishing is restricted to handicapped anglers and those under sixteen years of age.  As you can see in the first photo J.T. hooked up some really nice fish and what really made it fun was that he caught them on big #12 Adams dry flys!  There was a lot of hooting and hollering and I think Grandpa had the most fun just watching and encouraging J.T.   We spent the next two days on the Little Red River where we had good success taking Rainbows and Brown Trout on a variety of flys.  We got our first takes of the year on a big Grasshopper pattern.

It was just a joy for us to share this wonderful relationship between Grandfather and Grandson.  Any yellow Lab would be a lucky dog to have either of these fly fishermen as a master.
