Dry Run Creek

MARCH 01, 2012

Yesterday Bo and I took Scott and his father, Thomas, from Georgia, to Dry Run Creek for Scott’s first fly fishing trip.  It was a beautiful day and Scott quickly learned the roll cast and he released a number of fat rainbows and one beautiful 18″ cutthroat.  Most of the fish were taken on a size 14 “Goins Gold” and a size #20 black Zebra Midge.  Dry Run Creek is tributary of the Norfork River just below the dam and as you can see holds a very large and healthy trout population.  Access is limited by the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission to anglers under sixteen years of age as well as handicapped fly fishers.  It is a special place and provides a wonderful learning experience for young fly anglers.  I bet Scott will be back.
