Lamprey Eel

JANUARY 01, 2012

The brown trout in the net was really happy to meet Bo’s fly angling buddies Jamie Rouse and Paul Broddick.  You can see by the mark behind his head that this brownie had been host to a “lamprey” just prior to being being brought to the net.  A lamprey is an eel like creature that attaches itself to fish and will literally suck the life of them.  The lamprey are amazingly fast swimmers; but usually release their grip on a caught trout.  Sure hope those lampreys don’t like yellow labs!
