What a great day! My five year old granddaughter, Harper Jane Miskov, caught her first fish on fly! I am one proud grandfather. Many thanks to my good friend, Ryan Herbert, the owner of Yampa Valley Anglers, LLC., in Steamboat Springs, Co., for helping Harper Jane get hooked up to her first Rainbow. Harper Jane had a great time.
I learned long ago that it is not a good idea to try and coach your children, or grand children, in any sport. It is much better to get them with a pro like Ryan Herbert and it sure took the pressure off me and made the whole experience really enjoyable.
Hopefully Harper Jane and I will have many more good times fly fishing together.
