THE RIO SIMPSON CANYON

Patagonia

Coyhaique, Chile

January 18th, 2020

Our last day of fly fishing in Patagonia proved to be the best of all! We got lucky and were able to float the canyon section of the Rio Simpson and it is probably the most beautiful twelve miles of river I have ever floated. The fishing was unbelievable with a Brown Trout and two Rainbows over 24 inches plus so many other great fish. The Brown Trout pictured ate a #6 small white streamer pattern that I use as a Threadfin Shad imitation on the White River here in Arkansas. Both of the big Rainbows were caught in soft packets within class 3 rapids so it was impossible to get photos. All the photos of our Patagonia adventure are now posted in the Gallery Section of the website: www.emptycreelflyfishing.com Randall W. Goins
