While fly fishing our way through Colorado, my son, Trent Goins, and I got the opportunity to take a tour of the Mayfly Outdoors production facility in Montrose, Colorado. This where Able Reels are manufactured and then the reels are shipped to California where they are anodized then returned to Montrose for custom painting. My first fly reel was an Abel and they are about the only fly reel that I fish. This is definitely a high tech production process and it is easy see why Abel Reels are I think the highest quality reels on the market. Mayfly Outdoors also owns Ross Reels, Airflo Fishing fly lines, Dyna-King, Inc. fly tying vices and recently purchased Renzetti Inc. fly tying vices. I tie a lot of flys on a Renzetti Master Vice. Mayfly Outdoors is also doing really neat things for the community of Montrose, Colorado. Got a feeling they are about to purchase a fly rod company.
