SWPA Annual Trip

APRIL 01, 2014

Our annual trip with the group from the Southwest Power Administration was again a really fun day with a wonderful group of friends and fellow guides Chuck Farneth and Lowell Meyers.  The spring weather was absolutely perfect but even this SWPA group could not control the water releases from Greers Ferry Dam so we had to keep moving around the river to deal with high water conditions most of the day.

We started the morning several different IMG_1277IMG_1272 IMG_1273IMG_1278streamer patterns and as usual the Chuck’s Chunk” was the best producer taking a number of Rainbows including a fat twenty inch beauty caught by Levi.  After a great Bar-B-Que lunch on the river provided by Sherry Farneth we moved further up river and set up some nymph rigs for the higher water.  A #14 gray flash back Sowbug with a #18 olive Zebra Midge kept the guys on nice fish all afternoon including three slot Rainbows caught by Will and a slot Brown Trout caught by Tom that we actually had to dig out of a moss bed.  We all had a delightful spring fly fishing trip and we certainly look forward to fly fishing with the SWPA group again next year.

Hope everyone has a Happy Easter!
